With an employee strength of over 500 professionals, the senior management alone comes with over two centuries of experience, cumulatively, ranging from underwriting to claims management. We have with us one of the most experienced and diverse technical teams in the broking industry. The senior management team comprises Insurance professionals, Chartered Accountants, Engineers and HR professionals.
Oginga is a highly accomplished insurance professional with over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He holds advance diploma in insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of London. He was awarded chartered insurer status by the institution in 2009 and is also an associate member (ACII). Mr. Oginga also holds a degree in Bachelors of education from the University of Nairobi.
Driven by the vision to contribute towards the growth of the insurance industry in Kenya, Mr. Oginga looks forward to contribute towards IIRM KENYA INSURANCE BROKERS LTD’s objective of becoming a leading force in the insurance broking industry in Kenya, driving innovations and setting the highest standards of integrity, excellence and customer centricity.
To deliver on the objective, he brings on board many years of experience in general insurance sector with a track record in business development and management particularly in technical areas, marketing and human resource management. Such skills enabled him to achieve growth with profit in Kenindia assurance company ltd branches managed, set up bancassurance operations in the company in 2014 and turnaround the performance of medical insurance divisions among others.
After retiring from Kenindia assurance company ltd in 2016, Mr. Oginga transitioned into insurance trainer and lecturer at the College of Insurance in Nairobi, Kenya to share knowledge and experience gained over the years, before taking up new responsibility to be the principal officer of IIRM KENYA INSURANCE BROKERS LTD from July 2023, thus marking a new chapter in his professional journey.
Michael has 30yrs experience in Direct Underwriting, Reinsurance and Broking having worked in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Botswana.
His previous latest engagements on Reinsurance Broking being with JB Boda Reinsurance Brokers - Kenya, Tapex Reinsurance Brokers - Tanzania and WIRAS Reinsurance Brokers - Botswana as the General Manager, Principal Officer and Head Of Operations respectively. He also started the operations of JB Boda – Kenya and Tapex Re – Tanzania.
During his tenure, Michael headed different departments including Underwriting, Reinsurance, Claims and Marketing.
Michael has Masters in Business Administration – Marketing (MBA – Marketing). He is an Associate Of Chartered Insurance Institute – UK (ACII – UK) and a Chartered Insurer – UK.
He has also attended several Technical and Management courses/seminars
Currently pursing Risk Management through the Institute Of Risk Management of UK.
Michael brings with him a wealth of experience and technical skills to IIRM Group in general.
